Jesus’ vision of the final judgment in Matthew 25 suggests that our eternal fate hinges on whether or not we performed practical acts of compassion. Yet rather than being about salvation by “works” as opposed to “faith,” Matthew 25 offers an entry into a radically deeper understanding of human identity, orthodoxy vs. orthopraxy, and God’s value system of justice and love.
